Abstract

This paper analyzes ruling No. 897-11-JP/20 issued by the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, which refers to due process in procedures that discuss people’s migratory status. The aforementioned ruling places special emphasis on the process for the recognition of refugee status and on the right to having an interpreter. Thus, this paper highlights the need for States to issue internal guidelines that regulate procedures for the recognition of refugee status, as well as the role of judges in issuing non-repetition measures to prevent the same violations of rights from occurring in the future.
